It is after careful consideration and a heavy heart that The Grand Guelph –Banquet & Event Centre announces the discontinuation of its operations. This decision has been reached due to a variety of factors that have created an untenable business environment, despite our commitment to maintaining the highest standards of service.
Since August 2018, The Grand Guelph Banquet & Event Centre has been managed by Platters Catering & Events; marked by success and fruitful collaboration. We would like to express our sincere gratitude for the professionalism and cooperation that we have enjoyed throughout this period.
Unfortunately, due to recent developments after a year long attempt to negotiate a lease renewal, we are no longer able to renew the lease contract at a rate conducive to sustaining Banquet operations. The economic landscape has also become increasingly uncertain for large event spaces as the world is becoming more focused on virtual integration rather then “in-person”, and the looming specter of a recession in the aftermath of a challenging post-pandemic recovery has made it impossible for us to continue The Grand Guelph operations.
PLEASE NOTE ***PLATTERS CATERING & EVENTS WILL REMAIN IN OPERATION AND WILL CONTINUE TO CONDUCT BUSINESS AS USUAL. In our considerations we also have seen a production capacity limitation at our current location and will be expanding into a larger and more suited commercial kitchen.
The Grand Guelph Banquet & Event Centre will cease its operations on August 30, 2024. Until that date, we remain committed to fulfilling our existing obligations and ensuring that our clients continue to receive the exceptional service they have come to expect. We will work with the landlord and their management to transition the space if they are looking to continue the banquet operations and address any questions or concerns that may arise during this period. No formal plan for the space has yet been communicated that we are aware of.
This decision, while difficult, will allow Platters Catering & Events to focus our efforts on exploring new opportunities and delivering the outstanding service that has been our hallmark. We remain open to future collaborations and partnerships that may emerge.
